Nice to meet you and welcome to my Website!

Before you start reading through hopefully all my content, I just want to explain very shortly what my blog is about. You will learn a lot about me, my career and my skills – what I did so far and what I want to do in my future. The topic Blog leads you through my thoughts about the blog itself; concerning the chosen blog theme, colour palette, typography, style and tonality. I will present you my Projects in the next point, from Corporate Design and Editorial Design to artistic free work. Last but not least, you can follow my travels around the world to Australia and within this beautiful country. But now, I dont want to keep you any further from starting reading…

Have fun!

About Me

Once I had a dream…

As I mentioned before, I am very passionated about Editorial Design and already created my own magazine. To seek for more inspiration, I started to attend design conferences and design talks. On one of these conferences, Steven Watson presented his company „STACK Magazines“. I was absolutely thrilled with this idea and started to suscribe to the weekly offer. I just want to explain what „STACK Magazines“ is about.

Discover a different independent magazine every month!

– Stack brings together the world´s best independent magazines
– You can choose the great value stack suscription that suits you
– Stack delivers a monthly magazine surprise direct to your door

„Stack selects the best independent magazines and delivers them direct to your door.“

Why did Stack start? Steven Watson

Stack founder Steven Watson started Stack because
he thought people want something better to read. There are piles of fantastic magazines out there just waiting to be discovered, and Stack makees it cheaper and easier than ever for people to find and enjoy them.

How does Stack work?

Stack acts as a filter, selecting the best independent titles and supplying them at the best price via the suscription service or weekly sampler offers.

So I love Stack because …

– It is a surprise!
– It is top quality
– It is great value for money
– It is totally updated
– It makes a great gift

After that all, I was completely persuaded I would be ready to work for Stack. I have experience in different field of Editorial Design and it is more than fun, looking for new independent magazines and explore all the different design approaches. In my next topic, the SWOT Analysis, you will learn more about my skills and why I am appropriate for this job in detail.

What the font?!

Ryu uses grand typography. Grand here is both magnificent and big in size. That the reader has to adjust the font on the screen is now a thing of the past. Ryu uses 23px for body text and for entry titles, it´s 68px. As I wanted to go for a large font size, I chose Abril Fatface. It´s stylish and beautiful at the same time. The designer originally uses the similar font Playfair Display which has kind of similarities with Abril. Georgia lookes great when paired with Abril – I didn´t stick to the creators idea here and only went for two different fonts. Abril Fatface in combination with Source Sans Pro. The second one is used for the body and still provides good readability as Georgia does. In the original plan,  it was Lato which gave visual contrast and hierarchy. It was used in all-caps in post meta, navigations and site title. I think, these to typefaces fit relatively well to each other as they are very different. Abril is a serif font, Source is a non-serif one.

Related to the fact that „STACK Magazines“ is my dream future employer, the font Source Sans Pro is similar to their font Tablet Gothic Condensed Bold – it shows the same simplicity but in a slightly different way.  So this is basically why I went for especially these fonts.

It´s all about colour

Of course I was concerned about the colour palette of my blog. Due to the fact that my dream employer „STACK-Magazines“ uses the particular colour RGB (243, 187, 194) but at the same time relies on a simple, clean, subtle and minimalistic design, I went for this colour as my background. This fits in a way to the black buttons and the black font.
